Business Intelligence Displays

Business intelligence data plays an extremely important role in making sound planning and strategy decisions, and can also assist in assessing the success of those same decisions. All the most useful information won't help, however, if it isn't displayed in a logical and thoughtful manner.

Clients regularly ask for help with this and the results can take many forms, including excel spreadsheets or SharePoint data views.

When a client required a complex readout of information stored on a SharePoint site, Ben used a data view with joined data sources and custom formatting to give the client a coherent way to view budget information across multiple accounts. He coupled this with conditional messages based on various budget calculations to quickly alert the client to any problems as well as a simple filter to easily isolate just one account for viewing.

Another client, with auto-generated monthly spreadsheets, needed a way to aggregate data from certain cells based upon his designated criteria. Ben created custom VB scripts which took the data from cells across multiple different ranges and displayed it in a comprehensive set.
