Project:

Flash Banner Development

Details:

Two internal projects at Allyis required development and modification of Flash banners. The first was the Allyis.com homepage, where a site re-design called for an improved and more flexible banner. New slides were being added to an existing application and required new code.

Second was the portfolio of David Pick, Allyis's in house graphic designer. He had created a flash animation but needed a way to structure his portfolio page so that the animation he had created took up less space while remaining visible.

Responsibilities:

For the Allyis.com banner Ben developed a light weight application with simple user controls. This allowed users to easily scroll through the slides and also play the embedded FLV video. The application structure also allowed the site manager to easily swap slides without any editing of the code.

In creating a solution for David's portfolio, Ben used JavaScript, communicating with the Flash application, to determine specific application events broadcasting the end of the animation sequence. When the event registered, the script was able to gradually re-size the Flash keeping the title very visible while greatly increasing screen real estate.

Technologies:

ActionScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Adobe Flash
